| Do you shop at Sainsbury's and get them to knock the nectar points off your bill when you get to the till??? If so you are loosing out!! Sainsbury's, they have stopped giving points back on Nectar points redemption!! Example: If your shopping costs £5.00 and you ask the checkout operator if you can use the 1000 points on your Nectar card to pay, the amount of points you will earn on this transaction is NIL! This is because you have paid for the goods with Nectar points rather than with cash / card. However there is a loop-hole that allows you to get around this. Simply do the following...... On the way into the store, stop off at the customer services counter and exchange your Nectar points for Sainsbury's gift vouchers (available on £1, £5, £10 etc etc.) There are 3 benefits to this: 1) You wont earn any points when you buy the vouchers (again because you are paying with Nectar rather than cash / card), BUT, you will earn Nectar points when you spend the vouchers at the till!! This is because Sainsbury's class a gift voucher as cash 2) Although you can instantly exchange your Nectar points for goods in store, this is not possible when purchasing fuel as Sainsbury's garages do not allow it. However you can use Sainsbury's gift vouchers to purchase fuel. Using this method of obtaining gift vouchers therefore gives you more flexibility with what you can do with your points. 3) To redeem Nectar points at the till, the value of your shopping needs to be equal to, or over a multiple of £2.50 (500 Nectar points) However with gift vouchers this is not the case. If for example you have a £5 gift voucher and your shopping comes to £3.49, Sainsbury's will give you change back in the form of cash! ![]() Where's the freebie?? You get the Freebie Nectar points you wouldn't of had if you went strait to the till Last edited by martinarcher : 26-08-2007 at 08:59 PM. |
