This member is the original thread starter. Question RAM upgrades

I want to add 1GB of DDR RAM into my desktop. It already contains 512MB.
I have read that its better to install the sticks in pairs so i was wondering if this was ok if i bought a 1GB to go with my 512MB stick or would i be better buying 2 more 512MB sticks?
Another thing is when iv looked on ebay all the cheaper ones are high density and say that they only work if you dont have a ASUS board (mine is ASrock K7S8XE+) and dont use the following chipsets. Sorry if i sound thick but what is my chipset?

*.VIA P4X266A,
*.VIA KT266/333
*.VIA KT600 (except ASUS KT600)
*.VIA PT800
* VIA PT880
* SIS 645
* SIS 648
* 648FX
* SIS 746FX
* VIA KM400
* VIA K8T800
* VIA KT 880
* VIA KT 400 (except ASUS KT600)
* VIA KT 400A
* VIA PM800
* SIS 661FX
* SIS 655
* SIS 650GX
* SIS 650
* NVIDIA NFORCE 3 250GB
* ULI CHIPSETS
* INTEL 915
