This member is the original thread starter. Thumbs up Fork Escort MK5 (M reg) gears problem

I took my old esccort to a garage a while back cos it mostly refuses to go into 5th gear when i try to get it in, although every other gear is fine. I've been told loads of things it could be, from gear selector (already had it checked at the garage) clutch (wouldn't it affect other gears too?) gearbox (had a new one fitted) clutch cable (a little bit slack, but again wouldn't this affect other gears too?). I took it out the garage cos i felt i was going to pay through the nose for them to faff around not really knowing what was up. Has anyone got any experience on this? Cheers, jitjunior.
