Graphic Comic Vs Beano Anyone have any views on the difference between the Beano and a graphic comic?
There has been a huge interest in graphic comics over the past few years. We are even starting to see sections in public libraries and now graphic novels sections can be found in most book shops.
In the past graphic novels would only have been sold in specialist shops.
In the past if brought up in conversation that you read graphic novels a look of pity would pass peoples faces. This still happens but it happens a lot less as you find that people have more exposure to graphic novels.
For example a lot of people who have seen and enjoyed the movie Sin City would also like the graphic novels this was based on.
My older bother always used to compare graphic novels with the Beano. I gave him a CD full of Hellblazer comics (Yes !! the film came from a comic)
He was totally shocked at these. It is impossible to compare character like Dennis the Menace with John Constantine. The film never even came close to doing the comics justice.
My brother is now also hooked on graphic novels also. He cannot believe and is shocked at what goes into them.
The artwork and plots in graphic novels are just unbelieveable. I have never found anyone who has been negative about graphic novels who has actualy read one.
So back to my original question. Does anyone have views on what the difference is between the Beano and A graphic novel? |
