Although the below relates specifically to Scotland and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service if you have the opertunity, please give blood.

Currently the Blood Stocks in SNBTS are very low. We have less than four days supply in five of the eight Blood Groups and we are particularly concerned about O Positive, B Positive and the Rh Negative Blood Groups.

Donor Attendance has been down by 15% since Easter despite record levels of additional mailing, telephoning and other recruitment activity.

Radio Advertising has been in place to support the Public Holidays and we have also activated Blood Donor 24 emergency response panels in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Despite improved intake, blood stocks remain very worrying.

Blood Donor Week will be launched on Monday the 4th of June and we hope that this will give us sufficient coverage to boost attends and rectify the stock position.

We urgently need your help.

If you are eligible to give blood - please donate as soon as possible.

Please encourage your family and friends to give blood too!

Remember - just three teaspoons of blood can save the life of a premature baby.
