| Hi, got a call from a friend today, saying that he tried to re-install XP on his computer yesterday. But during the install he got a blue screen, after it got to 99%, and the computer restarted itself. However, when the computer booted up with the XP disk in it came up with an error saying "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.." Now I wasn't there when he tried to install XP but he said that the install prompted him to change NTFS or something or other, he's not too sure! If the computer is booted without the XP installation disk, he says all's he gets is a black screen with white dots on the right hand side of the screen. Have read that it could just be a problem with the BOOT.INI file and that it just needs altering, but dunno how i can access it to edit it. It wont boot into safe mode either?! Anyone got any ideas where to start!!?? Thanks in advance |
